Survive one calendar month. You and your rival each start with
$1,000 on Day 1 and race to Day 31.
Every turn moves you forward exactly one day β the choice is how you spend it.
Each turn, pick one:
Work β clock in at your current job. Your first Work assigns
you a random role at Junior level (70% of base salary). About
1 in 8 Work turns rolls a disruption β sick day, jury duty, parking fine,
occasionally even a firing.
Live it up β draw a life-event card. Could be a bonus check, a
windfall inheritance, or a $750 natural disaster. Fortune favors the bold.
Junior β Middle β Senior
Once you've worked the same role at your current level at least twice,
every non-disruption Work turn has a 10% chance to promote you.
Middle pays 100% of base, Senior pays 120%. Committing to one career over many
turns is how you hit the top end. Getting fired resets you to Junior at a new role.
Retraining
Hate your job? Pay 4Γ your current (effective) salary to retrain
into a random role paying between 90% and 150% of your current
effective pay. You restart at Junior, so retraining late in the game is
almost always a loss β do it early or not at all.
Perks are earned
Twice per game you may draw a perk β but only after you've clocked in.
The first draw unlocks after 5 Work turns; the
second unlocks after 10. Each draw shows 3 options; pick
the best (or pass on all). Perk costs are steep β this isn't a handout.
Overdraft
Balance below $0? You're forced to work, and the bank takes 10% of your debt each
turn until you're back in the black.
Win
Be first to Day 31 with at least $1,000. If both of you qualify, the higher balance
wins. Finish under $1,000 and you lose the month.
